Applying for Financial Aid

Step 1: FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)

Complete a FAFSA using the Angeles College Federal School Code – 041604.

The FAFSA is the financial aid application used and must be completed in order for a student to be considered for most types of financial aid. The FAFSA must be completed each year, and can be submitted online.

Step 2: Submit any additional documentation requested.

Approximately 1 week after processing your FAFSA, the Department of Education will electronically transmit the information to Angeles College. We will then review the data to determine if any additional documents (i.e., tax returns, citizenship documentation, etc.) are needed. This review is undertaken to ensure the accuracy of the information reported.

If additional documents are requested, you may submit them in person at the Financial Aid Office, by postal mail, by fax, or by electronic mail to:

Financial Aid Office – Angeles College
3440 Wilshire Blvd. Suite 310
Los Angeles, CA 90010
Fax: (213)487-2299
Email: Kathy Torrance (ktorrance@angelescollege.edu) or Evelyn Gaytan (egaytan@angelescollege.edu )

Make copies of all documents before submitting. Documents are due within 30 days of receipt of request. No award will be processed until this step has been completed. After you have submitted any requested additional documentation, your information will be reviewed for accuracy and completeness. Under certain circumstances, an interim disbursement of Pell funds for the applicant’s first payment period may be allowed either prior to verification or after verification, but before receiving the corrected SAR or ISIR.

Step 3: Award Notification Letter

A financial aid award notification letter detailing amounts and the types of aid programs offered to you will be mailed to the physical address on record, e-mailed, or picked up by the student, depending on the student’s preference.

Step 4: Awarding & Disbursement of Funds

If you wish to decline any or all awarded funds, you must notify the FAO. However, no further action is necessary if you choose to accept all awarded funds. For eligible, enrolled students, Pell Grant Funds are awarded on or after the first day of class that the student has begun attendance. If you choose to apply for a loan, promptly submit required loan documents & application. For first-time borrowers, Direct Loan Funds are awarded 30 calendar days after a student’s program of study begins.

We look forward to seeing you!
